Boosted by the excellent result in Singapore, where Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll both finished in the top 10, the Aston Martin F1 team approached the Japanese Grand Prix with enthusiasm despite the event having not been on the calendar since the 2019 season.
Eighth on the Marina Bay after being overtaken by Max Verstappen on the last lap, Vettel is particularly happy to return to Suzuka this weekend.
« Suzuka is a fantastic circuit, it’s actually my favorite on the calendar. I have so many memories of this place, the track is so special and the fans are absolutely amazing as well. The atmosphere there is magical in its together. »
« The track also offers a great challenge and it is very satisfying to achieve a perfect lap. It is difficult to predict our level of performance for this weekend, but we scored some good points at Spa on another circuit which required little support. »
Lance Stroll finished sixth in Singapore and scored his best result of the season on occasion, helping Aston Martin F1 earn seventh place in the constructors’ championship. And like his teammate, the Canadian driver does not hide his happiness when it comes to returning to the Japanese event.
« I’m very excited to return to Suzuka, it’s a real drivers’ circuit and I like the challenge. It’s quite simply one of the best tracks in the world. Especially the first sector which is one of the most intense on the calendar. »
« It’s traditionally not easy to overtake there, but the rule change could hopefully change that this year. »
